Events (all events are free unless otherwise stated)
This is a course for introducing folk to using tools and maintaining your bike.
You don't need to have any knowledge of bicycle mechanics or even handling tools, because this course is designed to be a very friendly introduction to taking care of your bike. This course will cover safety checking your bike, becoming comfortable using tools, diagnosing problems, making adjustments to brakes and gears. You'll also get a master class in puncture repair.
This course will run on Saturday Sept 4th between 10am and 5pm.
It will take place in our new training premises which means your course will be taught in a purpose equipped facility in a good learning environment.
This course costs just £60 for non members (£55 for members).
If you become a member, once you have completed the course you then get a years access to member's nights which gives you access to our workshop space along with access to our tools and advice.

The 2010 Symposium will be hosted by the Transport Studies Unit at the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford, on Monday 6th September. This year's programme promises to offer critical perspectives on the subject matter from a broad variety of disciplines. Twelve papers will be presented across four themed sessions and plenty of time will be allowed for discussion. The Symposium will be of interest to academics, policy makers and advocates who like to think more critically and creatively about the practice of cycling in its broadest sense. Newer participants to the field are most welcome to attend. Cost is £25
This a the opportunity to spend a day learning the magical skill of wheel building. As with many elements of cycle maintenance it is actually less scary when explained well than you might imagine. This course costs just £60 (£55 to members of OCW) and runs from 10am until 5pm. You can build a wheel for yourself or build a wheel using parts supplied by OCW. A conference aimed at those with an interest in the management of churchyards. James Jones, the Bishop of Liverpool and Sir Ghillean Prance, Science Director of the Eden Project and ex-Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, will be the keynote speakers. Wood is Britain's Greenest festival. As well as celebrating great music it also celebrates nature. The event runs entirely on renewable energy and aims to highlight green issues and through participation promote an ecologically friendly lifestyle, with composting toilets, showers heated by wood-burning stove and a solar-powered stage. You can even spend your time dancing into the night in a bicle powered disco.
